Favre From Good

farve*Update* I told you so

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills! Brett Favre is coming back, enough with the daily will-he or won’t-he updates. That is what he wants. He loves to hold the offseason hostage. It was clear what he was doing the second he asked for his release from the Jets. But what I really don’t understand is how most of the mainstream media are still convinced that he is good.

The latest excuse is Favre’s arm injury. I don’t doubt that Favre was hurt but the fact is the type of interceptions he threw had nothing to do with age or injury. When you simply toss fun-balls up for grabs many of them are going to get picked. At this point Favre is a gunslinger with bad aim. He is like the grunt bad guys in an action flick. And this isn’t exactly a new development. Over the last four seasons Favre has averaged 21 interceptions a year (yes, that is a lot).

Here is what will happen this season. Good ol’ Brett will announce that he is coming back. Numerous pundits will pronounce the Vikings Super Bowl bound. The Vikings will start off hot, something like 5-1 (they do play the Browns, Lions, 49ers and Rams in that span). Then the pick parade will begin, the Vikings will emerge as nothing more than a mediocre threat and Favre will fail to go out on a high note yet again.

Now that doesn’t mean it won’t be entertaining. I will love every second of it. If it were up to me the Vikings would play without a center and Favre would get to wear Wranglers and take the ball out of a holster. I am just waiting on the official announcement.
