Walks

I thoroughly enjoy a nice stroll. I can’t understand people who don’t; especially if you are moving toward a destination. Running or walking to a destination destroys other forms of locomotion.

Ever since I moved to New York I gained an urge to walk places (this urge is deeply tied to my lack of a car and desire to avoid waiting for a train). It is how I learned the layout of the city. Between that and running I gained my bearings rather quickly.

Other people do not share this penchant for walking. When I suggest walking somewhere rather than another form of transportation, I am generally greeted by a bewildered stare. Even if the journey is just 20 blocks or so. Then again, I am the guy who would rather get off and walk than wait for a train transfer.

Recently, I have used these walks to get in touch with my thoughts (No, I am not gay). I tend to bump some tunes and attempt to hatch a master plan while looking at the buildings and observing the antics of various crackheads. In fact, I’m going to embark on a trek from 34th street to 102nd street right now. Hopefully I come up with a plan that involves more productive activities than blogging about walking.

At least you didn’t say you walk with really tight fitting pants, weird shoes, and a bright orange scarf.
