Finally Free

What happened to LeBron James against the Boston Celtics could wind up being the best thing for his career. Yes, he was terrible in game five. God-awful. And he wasn’t spectacular in game six. (Not trying to make excuses, however, I do believe something is wrong with his elbow. I’ve watched a lot of LeBron James and he shoots a bunch of jumpers. He hardly looked for the jimmy in this series.) But never has it been more evident that he will not win with this team.

It’s remarkable how far he has been able to take them. The Cleveland Cavaliers are deep, yet filled with role players. They are also not built for the future. At all. Mo Williams is erratic as all hell. They’re cap space is being eaten up by Anderson Varejao (an excellent piece but not a difference maker) and Antawn Jamison (a 34-year-old who has proven to shrink in big situations). They are simply old and ok. Even the best ever have had help. Kevin Garnett said it best, “we knew we were going against one guy.”

Magic and Bird played with some of the best teams ever. Michael had Scottie, Kobe had Shaq and Gasol. Shaq had Kobe and Wade. Duncan had Robinson and then Parker and Ginobili. You get the point. To the same point, I’m taking Boston to win the title. They have KG (who will frustrate Gasol, plus, they went seven games with Orlando without him last season) and then Paul Pierce (who will guard Kobe well), and then Ray Allen (who spreads the floor and defends) and then Kendrick Perkins (who guards Dwight Howard one on one better than anyone in the league) and then, most of all, Rajon Rondo (who will force the Lakers to put Kobe on him in his evisceration of Derek Fisher).

Anyway, LeBron James must now realize that he can’t win in Cleveland. You could see it on his face. His legs were tired from doing everything and his team basically quit. The Celtics fans were chanting “New York Knicks”, “New York Knicks”. That end result is more of a possibility than it ever has been. The Knicks can surely give him help. Right away. The best he’s ever played with (the same can be said for a couple other teams, including Hov’s squad).

July 1st could mark the end of the city of Cleveland and shift the entire landscape of the NBA for years to come. At least if LeBron realizes what I think he does.

yeppp i agree with you, labron is playing with a bunch of 3 and 4s just remember this…… the cavs have only won about 2 of the last 17 games without labron James in there lineup or something along that line btw you can see it in his body language he wasn’t that upset they lost….well i shouldn’t say he wasn’t upset but i was at a loud bar and just watching him after the game you can tell hes finished with Cleveland and he knows what the future holds (BTW why do people think hes going to Chicago, probably something for people to talk about and speculate on like always)

The best thing that could have happened for us Knick fans. Maybe my daydreams of a roster with LeBron & Bosh will come true. If it happens, I’m curious if Walsh would be able to offer David Lee whatever is left over under the cap with a “promise” to resign for bigger bucks next year. With D’Antoni’s offense he would be perfect as our center with Bosh manning the Power Forward spot. A Starting Five of LeBron, Bosh, Lee, Gallinari, and Rodriguez, with Chandler as the 6th man, would score ALOT of points in D’Antoni’s offense. With Curry freeing up money for the season after next and Tony Parker becoming a free agent in 2011-2012, hmmm, who knows (Parker, Bosh, LeBron, “Gallo”, Lee, Chandler). It’s nice to dream.

I think Cleveland made a huge mistake by not trading for Amare. They didn’t want to give up J.J hickson because he’s a part of our future…well thats great but why was he buried on the bench the whole playoffs when he started for us for pretty much the whole regular season. I’m from Cleveland and at this point I’ve grown tired of trying to defend LBJ in staying here. I still think he’ll stay but if he leaves what can you do. If he does stay, Mike brown has to go and you have to bring in a notable head coach (like phil jackson, etc) and you have to sign another allstar player like Bosh. We’ll see though, just another sad day over here in Cleveland……GO BROWNS! hah

Yea why the hell would Lebron James want to be overshadowed by Jordan his entire career? Chris Brussard is an idiot(sorry I know he’s ESPN but had to say it). The Bulls have Rose and Noah but it would be nothing compared to the players the Knicks have plus Bosh. It is pretty much a lock for him to sign with the Knicks if Lebron comes. And don’t give me the sign and trade crap that they were talking about, Chicago can only offer the horrifically bloated contracts of Hinrich 9m/2yrs and Luol Deng 13m/4. Why in the hellllllll would the Raptors want that? If they lose Bosh they are going to rebuild, not patch themselves together with mediocrity a-la Isiah Thomas. Max neeeeeds to do a special podcast with you about this, I really want to know what he thinks about this situation!! No one out there knows what the hell they are talking about.

Prediction. Nets get the 1st pick in the lottery. draft John Wall, Sign Lebron and Bosh and then get John Calipari to put the whole master plan in place. although he will be looked at like Nick Saban, Saban has a national championship ring on, something he would not have with the dolphins. Sick of hearing about all this Chicago business. its nonsense.

    There goes that!
