I agree he shouldn't play game five. But say the Knicks pull out a win in Miami tonight, what about a return for Game 6 at the Garden? The place would implode. The emotion and energy of both the story and the setting might be enough to carry them to a Game 7. That'd be enough for me as a Knick fan this year, to force a Game 7, after everything that's gone on.

Hopefully Toney Douglas steps up. Since that shoulder surgery he's been shooting jumpshots like Jeffries shoots contested layups.

Embarrassingly.

GREAT read! So on point with why he should not come back. There was speculation that he bailed on his teammates but Woodson quoted "He wants to play". Just don't want anyone to think he bailed on his teammates. Seems more like the doctors didn't clear him.

What does Robin Lundberg have in common with a euthanized horse? He should be put down because he came up lame. Power Rangers? That’s not all the hockey talk he got in today. He also mentioned the secondary assist in hockey or as a lameman (see what I did there) would say, a hockey assist. Of course, he was talking about Carmelo Anthony making quicker passes out of the double team but at least he is using hockey references instead of Marvel, South Park, Malcolm Gladwell, Jay-Z, and Maryland hillbilly snake references. He could have mentioned Devils-Flyers game 4 tonight in his updates but Jay-Z isn’t an owner of that New Jersey team.

In The Great Gatsby, I believe the minor character who sponged off Jay Gatsby and lived in his mansion was originally named Pep Rally. What does booing accomplish? What is the point? It accomplishes as much as a pep rally, which you readily endorse.

Robin Lundberg states, “I don’t understand this hatred of LeBron. I just don’t hold grudges.” Adrian Grenier begs to differ.

Robin Lundberg states, “Anyone who wanted the Knicks to match-up against the Heat is dumb.” I believe Stephen A. Smith has been called worse.

Since you led off your show with horse racing and boxing and Great Gatsby talk, I will end this piece by saying, “23-skidoo.”

An article in the June 26, 1906 New York American credits the phrase to one Patsey Marlson, then a former jockey hauled into court on a misdemeanor charge. At his hearing, Marlson is asked by the judge how the expression came about. He explains that when he was a jockey, he worked at a track which only had room for 22 horses to start in a line. If a 23rd horse was added, the long shot would be lined up behind the 22 horses on the front line. Apparently, "23 skidoo" implied that if the horse in the back was to have any chance of winning, it would really have to run very fast. Marlson also says in the article that the expression was originally "23, skidoo for you."

Perhaps the most widely known story of the origin of the expression concerns the area around the triangular-shaped Flatiron Building at Madison Square in New York City. The building is located on 23rd Street at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway, and, due to the shape of the building, winds swirl around it. During the 1920s, groups of men would allegedly gather to watch women walking by have their skirts blown up, revealing legs, which were seldom seen publicly at that time. Local constables, when sometimes telling such groups of men to leave the area, were said to be "giving them the 23 Skidoo".

It is at a triangular site where Broadway and Fifth Avenue—the two most important streets of New York—meet at Madison Square, and because of the juxtaposition of the streets and the park across the street, there was a wind-tunnel effect here. In the early twentieth century, men would hang out on the corner here on Twenty-third Street and watch the wind blowing women's dresses up so that they could catch a little bit of ankle. This entered into popular culture and there are hundreds of postcards and illustrations of women with their dresses blowing up in front of the Flatiron Building. And it supposedly is where the slang expression "23 skidoo" comes from because the police would come and give the voyeurs the 23 skidoo to tell them to get out of the area.

An early nickelodeon movie, It Happened on 23rd Street, which dates from 1901, shows women's skirts being blown up by the updraft from a ventilation grating, exposing their knees.

However, the slang expression "23" was already in use before the Flatiron Building was built (1902), and Webster's New World Dictionary derives skiddoo (with two d's) as probably from skedaddle, meaning "to leave", with an imperative sense.

Verne Lundquist? Where is a hockey alter ego when you need one? Is that going to be a regular weekly Saturday segment with Katie Strang from 9:34 AM to 9:36 AM? Segment should be called "Two minutes in the box for boring." You asked Katie Strang the following in-depth question, "Are Rangers fans going to be happy?" Are you the same Robin Lundberg who has criticized Kim Jones in the past for her postgame questions?

Multiple Olympic basketball references, leading off the 9 AM hour talking boxing, and Rangers hockey talk gets two minutes and three questions. A two-hour Robin Lundberg hosted show gets zero minutes and zero questions talking hockey. A three-hour Robin Lundberg hosted show gets two minutes and three questions talking hockey. And regardless if it is a two-hour or a three-hour Robin Lundberg hosted show, he definitely will not discuss Mets baseball.

You da man Lundberg! Espn doesn't know what they have. I honestly feel that there is this weird generational gap between the heads of these organizations (not just espn) and the new generation of listeners. Whether it be fear from advertisers or change itself, they are unwilling to evolve sports talk radio(remove this part, but i hope you see it). Anyways.. ever since you've been on the air droppin those nasty 1 liners and those videos you've posted with Louie, I've been hooked. You'll be running shit in no time, keep spittin that fire!

Robin Lundberg believes fighting marginalizes hockey. I believe 1050 ESPN Radio marginalizes hockey. For example, prior to Senators-Rangers game 1 on Thursday, Michael Kay left his own radio program early at 5:15 PM, not to prepare for a Yankees broadcast, but to attend a dinner. Second, 1050 ESPN Radio decided the best fill-in for Michael Kay was hockey guru, Stephen A. Smith, who repeated in less than two minutes, that the Rangers have three guys on their roster who have won a Stanley Cup. And in his best impersonation of Rick Perry, he named Brad Richards, Mike Rupp, but couldn’t name the third player. Oops.

On Friday, after the Rangers won game 1 on Thursday night, Ruocco and Lundberg did not spend a single second discussing the game, but had plenty of time to kill since Jared Jeffries missed his 1 PM scheduled spot like he was practicing layups.

This is a ridiculous statement.

Fighting is a huge part of some of the unwritten rules of hockey. Let's go back to Wayne Gretzky's tenure during the NHL.

As a sports reporter, I'd assume that you would know that Wayne Gretzky played on the Oilers during 80's. I wouldn't expect you to know that Wayne Gretzky always played along side an enforcer throughout that span of time, specifically Dave Semenko and Marty McSorley. The main role of those two players was to protect Wayne Gretzky.

Both Dave Semenko and Marty McSorley brought a huge intimidation factor onto the ice. They basically let the other team know that if you are going to take a shot at Gretzky, then you better expect one of us to ruin your night. Take away Semenko and McSorley, and you have players from other teams cheap-shotting Gretzky at will without any fear of retaliation.

With fighting, it is the same thing. There is a reason why fighting has been a part of the game for so long and why it will continue to stay in the game. If you take away fighting, then it becomes open season for cheap shots in the NHL. For example, Brian Boyle gave a couple of punches to Erik Karlsson in game one. If that went unanswered through the rest of the series, then the Senators are essentially saying it's okay that Boyle messed with their star (and undersized) player. But it didn't go unanswered. Right off the bat Carkner came out swinging against Boyle. Carkner let Boyle know that he isn't going to get away with punching the Sens' star player.

From your article, I assume you don't watch much hockey. The greatest cheap shotter of all time is Darcy Tucker. He did everything that goes against the unwritten rules of hockey, especially hitting players below the knees. Someone like Tucker would go wild in games in an NHL that doesn't have fighting. He would go around cheap shotting everyone knowing that no one would be able to step up a take exception to what he is doing.

When you see a fight on a highlight on ESPN, then of course it looks silly. Fighting in the NHL kind of looks silly to begin with. What the highlights don't show you is everything leading up to the fight and all of the reasons why the fight commenced. Fighting has a huge impact on the game, and throughout season and playoff series.

If anything, fighting has taken a lesser role in the NHL recently. Most of the leagues goons have been phased out, i.e. Colton Orr and Georges Laraque. Players in the NHL are now being forced to have more skill and they can't be pure goons.

By the way, fighting isn't simply allowed in the NHL. A 5-minute major penalty is assessed to the participants in the fight.

If you ever want to educate yourself more on the topic, then The Code: The Unwritten Rules of Fighting and Retaliation in the NHL is a great read.

What the highlights don’t show you is everything leading up to the fight and all of the reasons why the fight commenced. Fighting has a huge impact on the game, and throughout season and playoff series.

If anything, fighting has taken a lesser role in the NHL recently. Most of the leagues goons have been phased out, i.e. Colton Orr and Georges Laraque. Players in the NHL are now being forced to have more skill and they can’t be pure goons.

By the way, fighting isn’t simply allowed in the NHL. A 5-minute major penalty is assessed to the participants in the fight.

If you ever want to educate yourself more on the topic, then The Code: The Unwritten Rules of Fighting and Retaliation in the NHL is a great read.

See when you have a game with physical contact where everyone is carrying a weapon. You need to have a way for players to release tension or get at people who cross the line with the stick or even other ways. I'd rather a few fist get thrown then sticks being swung like in that fight in the movie Youngblood.

I dont know how you report about sports when obviously you know nothing about hockey. Maybe your good at reporting football and baseball, but if you know nothing about a sport and have no facts to back up your argument. you should just keep your mouth closed because you are obviously just looking for attention.

According to reports, the fate of humanity rested on a regular season NBA game between a team with the 18th best record in the league versus a team with the 19th best record in the league. And I am happy to report that we are not doomed. Humans are spared this time. But what about next time? I believe if the future of mankind is to be decided on a basketball court a second time, I vote that we entrust the Globetrotters, not the Knickerbockers. Now, Sweet Clyde Dixon and I will laugh derisively at Robin Lundberg, a fool of the highest caliber.

New Jersey Devils - MSG Plus - .47 rating - 2010-2011 season
New Jersey Nets - YES Network - .38 rating - 2011-2012 season
New York Islanders - MSG Plus - .34 rating - 2010-2011 season

Same stratosphere, same metropolitan area, same old lies with absolutely no data support from Robin Lundberg.

"how does fighting impact the game other than resulting in players being put on timeout?"

it energizes the crowd and gets them into the game. it creates team unity when players are willing to stick up for each other. a team that comes out flat can get momentum after a fight. the non hockey fan is the only one who doesn't understand the importance of fighting. The players do. The coaches do. The fans do.

I can understand why you think fighting has no part in the game. Until you actually watch more than just highlights, you won't be able to understand the place it has. You are right saying that some of the players that fight have less hockey skills than superstars. Having said that, the stars need those players to give them space. "Tough guys" on opposing teams will tend to leave the superstars to do their thing because they know that if you hit that superstar, they are going to have to pay a price. Space for superstars means more exciting play, and more scoring. Like you said, the speed, skill and athleticism involved in hockey can't be matched by any other sport. Fighting is actually down from decades past because coaches have to be able to "roll 4 lines." Everyone that is on the team needs to have elevated hockey skills in order to have a successful team. If you really want to understand the game, go to a few live. They don't have to be NHL games either. Seeing the speed, skill and athleticism live, will help you when watching on TV. You won't be disappointed if you give hockey a chance.

Mike Nitro--yup. I did the same thing....looking at Melo's face during a TO. Ridiculous. I was against the DNToni Hire, but more against Melo. Also, when he sucker punched MCollins didn't help. All I know is since we gave him his way (something he says he never wanted. lol) he has seized the moment----scoring, um 16 and 12!

This is what I've been saying all along! I love this article but it's like a little too late. You guys have been giving him the benefit of the doubt since he got here. Last years playoffs proved to me all I needed to see from him. No defense, bad attitude, terrible end of game decisions and not to mention a drop in STATS game as well as Fields'. I knew exactly what we were gonna get because I have cousins who are just like Melo. You may say that's nonsense but I'm telling you I know those kind of dudes. They have that world against me attitude. It's ok for the hood but not in a team sport like basketball. In D'Antoni's last game I paused my screen at one point and asked my wife to come look at Melo's face after a huddle. That look has been on his face since he got here. He is not a championship player by any stretch. The fact that people made such a big deal to get this man and barely made a peep for Dwight Howard, is one the biggest puzzles in all of this to me. Linsanity seems like years ago to me. I don't know how to feel even if we start to win with a guy on my team I never wanted. I think you guys should started making noise about this a long time ago, when something could have been done about it. Thanks for this article though, it makes me feel like I'm not the only one who sees the real Melo

Hey Lundberg, big time listener of you and really enjoyed this read. I think the main point here is exactly how your wrapped it up : No more excuses. Carmelo, Stat, everyone has to show why they were paid all of this money. It is truly put up or shut up time, with the scapegoat in coach D'antoni stepping down.
Just wanted to bring up a solid point here, I really think Stat is on his way back. Everyone, including himself, would say that he had a horrible first half. It involved his brother's death, his back injuries, and his stamina just wasn't there. He seemed, for lack of a better word, in slow motion. It wasn't long ago when you would check the game log and see that Amar'e started off the game 2 for 9, with a couple points. As of late, his efficiency has gone through the roof in comparison to early season stat. His jumper looks nice, he is raising up for dunks, and he is running up and down the floor. If only he could play some D ... :( , Thanks again for the great write up, I will always be reading your stuff

George,
You are right on the money!!! I keep telling everyone that but they just want to bash him and write him off for whatever reason. I'm glad to know that someone else has some common sense.

I remember about talking about Eli Maning in his third year about how he was not a leader and did not speak up. He also had more interceptions than Touch downs. Sanchez is in his third year after helping his team get to two AFC championships, PLEASE give him a break. Everyone on the Jets that want to bury him need to look in the mirror.

ok who ever said marvel will win has no intelligence of either side,
all of marvels characters for one have 2 many loop holes in themselves and will be easily taken down by alot of different universes especially jap universes.

but back2 the topic, wolverine & hulk, with that team you have strength and speed.
batman and superman u have an entire package.. brains, brawn, projectiles, speed ect.
wolverine has only speed over batman, while batman is a better fighter, uses his brain and utility belt lol, superman and hulk? that fight will last no more than 3mins.
hulk gets angry, tries to hit supa (doge) grabs hulk flies him to space. game over 4 hulk.
&& wolverine isnt faster than superman so . . . . .

Well said Robin! I completely agree. The points of contention were too small to throw away a season. But when you contend in a manner that can only be perceived as bullying, you can't be surprised when the other guy eventually hits back. The most dangerous opponent is often the one backed into a corner. You're right.. these opponents happen to be some of the most competitive people on the planet. That's what you pay them for!

The ultimatums and needless public threats only served to back the owners themselves into a corner as well. If you keep making these types of all-in bets, eventually you're going to get called. Then you have to live and die with the cards already on the table.

They all would have been better served keeping the negotiations quiet. The constant struggle for public opinion was a pointless one. The public has long waried of both sides, and will deem both responsible and guilty now. If they would have kept things private, perhaps each side could have backed off of their hard stances without seemingly losing face. I'm sure an agreement could have been reached without all of this nonsense.

You're right... The die-hard fans are the ones that will be hurt the most. The peripheral fan doesn't care enough to hold a grudge. They'll come back as soon as their home team makes a playoff run. The die-hards have no choice. We love the game too much to walk away now. We, in fact, have the worst cards at the table. But we're all in and just hoping that we get lucky on the River.

Raf--New Day is dope, good concept, autotune on sample is dope and Jay says "Me and the Rza connect" (nerd rap moment)

Jonesy--I thought the beats and hooks on Bad Meets Evil were fairly terrible. I get they were trying to rappity rap but the songs here are just crafted on a different level to me

Zlander--Thanks

Gotta disagree with you. I felt the album was missing a lot, really. I listened to the whole album, and wasn't impressed. Especially with the much touted "Otis". In all honesty, when it comes to collaborations this year, I think Eminem and Royce Da 5'9's "Hell The Sequel" was a much better album.

Batman will take out wolverine easily
All you need to do is to decapitate him
And batman has a laser sword which is
Just as strong as a lightsaber
And he has grenades and explosives wolverine
Is finished now while hulk and superman are
Going at it batman will go back to his batcave
Create his gamma gun goes back and shoots
Hulk with gamma gun hulk goes back to human form
Superman rips him in half the end

i can't believe you paid good money for this p-o-s. and it was Bad Boys II that you said at the time was the best movie ever made and tried to get me to see that junk which to my credit i never have. Armageddon isn't very good either especially the animal crackers scene. but your brother, Shane, and i think we have seen The Rock more than any other movie (it is on tv constantly) and imdb'ing Michael Bay The Rock has to be his "best" movie. don't you just love Nicolas Cage. all the others ........

The following PSA's were rejected at the end of the show:

1. Chemotherapy and drugs are half the battle against cancer. Knowing that you will still eventually die from cancer despite the chemotherapy and drugs is the other half of the battle.
2. Not dying is half the battle when playing russian roulette. Not wetting your pants is the other half.

I def agree w/ your assessment of x-men 1st class. Great movie 2nd best comic book adaption, the dark knight being 1st...But i feel this is a very close 2nd. I saw some parallels w/ Star Wars characters. Professor X being the obie wan kenobe of the movie while erik(magneto) being the Darth Vader. Charlies Xavier, just like Obie wan becomes a mentor for ,magneto. And for the most part Erik listens to him. But just like when Anakin becomes Darth Vader,Erik becomes magneto out of a pretty tragic young childhood/circumstances.This all works for me. I hope it makes enough box office coin to warrant a sequel.

i love super hero debates on whos the most powerful(mutants are close enough). Although professor x is the most powerful telepath in all of comics, but im sorry magneto and professor x arent even close to the most powerful mutants in either the x-men comic book series or in all of marvel comics

I have not seen "Bridesmaids," so I can not competently comment on the film or your review, but I can incompetently comment. I disagree with your assessment that "Bridesmaids" "is now sitting atop the list of girl buddy comedies." My vote goes to the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3: No Pants or Panties Necessary. One of the raunchiest, filthiest, and most vulgar-filled film of all time.

If the Dallas Mavericks win the NBA Finals, Robin Lundberg must:
1. Drive back to Dallas and deliver rock salt to Emmitt Smith's house.
2. Rebound all of Jared Jeffries' missed jump shots at a Knick's practice. To clarify, a Jared Jeffries' jump shot is the equivalent to a Jared Jeffries' missed jump shot.
3. Since Lundberg loves comic book superheroes, he will dress up as one. None other than the one aptly played by Hollywood movie star, Vincent Chase. You guessed it. Aquaman!

If the Miami Heat win the NBA Finals, Ryan Ruocco must:
1. Be barreled over by a HGH-induced David Justice again.
2. Write a spin-off of One Tree Hill about a promising young man who suffers setback after setback and who never reaches his full potential, aptly titled, One Grant Hill.
3. For a week, replace the member of the Yankees’ grounds crew who is responsible for cutting the infield grass. You hear that, Jeter. You can stop hitting grounders. You have the week off, Captain Lawnmower.

Statistics don't lie. The average span of a new local host on 1050 ESPN Radio between the hours of 10 A.M. - 10 P.M., excluding Michael Kay, over the last 5 years barely exceeds one year. If you are going to blame Udonis Haslem's -11 on his teammates, then you most likely can point the finger at Dave Winfield and Chris Mullen, weekly guests, for the departure of Brandon Tierney and Jody McDonald as well as your departure in approximately a year.

"In fact, he shot better on mid-range jumpers than everyone not named Dirk Nowitzki and Ray Allen."

Well, we both know that isn't EXACTLY true, unless your definition of mid-range only includes 13 footers at a 47 degree angle from the hoop or "shots where the shooter got at least six inches of lift". Because a more liberal definition .. say shots between 10-23 feet by guys who play 25+ minutes a night ... and the computer spits out a handful of more names. Not a lot but a few ....

Totally agree with all of that. Had many similar points when I was discussing this with friends. It's ridiculous how much this snowballed once Jordan(think it was him) stated he was the MVP a few months back. Everyone just hopped on the drone bandwagon, and decided to stop using their own minds. The system is definitely flawed, but I guess that's always the case when its so subjective.

"Either way, legacies will be shaped and careers partially defined by this 2nd round series, ..."

Dwyane Wade's legacy has already been shaped and cemented with bringing the first ever NBA championship to Miami in 2006. If LeBron James contributes by assisting Dwyane Wade win a second NBA championship, then LeBron James will be similar to Roger Clemens helping the Yankees win a World Series in 1999 and 2000, just another passenger along for the ride.

Either way, when questions are posed to LeBron and Wade during this NBA playoffs about winning a NBA championship, Wade can proudly state, "Been there, done that." LeBron James can't.

"Can LeBron and Wade do together what they couldn’t individually? We will find out soon enough."

Lundberg, do you suffer from selective amnesia? We found out Wade could win a NBA Championship individually in 2006. Is that soon enough for you? Can you please stop lumping them together? The Miami Heat organization existed before LeBron James came to Miami.

"The Heat completed their first season."

The Miami Heat completed their first season in 1989 (1988-1989). I am pretty sure that John Calipari had no association with the Miami Heat organization that would lead to their first 22 years in existence from being vacated.

We get it, Lundberg. You think LeBron James is the Messiah so you think he and his family should be off limits. Too bad Gloria James would rather have a Bloody Mary than be known as the Virgin Mary. In 2006, at the hearing after Gloria James' arrest for DUI, her attorney requested a sidebar to which Gloria James was overheard saying, "Ooh, good idea. I could really go for a vodka tonic."

"I get that people hate the guy (I’m still perplexed how deep the hate runs for some…over a TV show) ..." How exactly do you, yourself, explain your visceral hatred for Adrian Grenier who plays the fictional character, Vincent Chase, on a TV show?

What do a 16-year old pregnant girl and a 43-year old woman accused of assaulting a parking valet have in common with an 18-year old artist twice rejected by the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and a 55-year old man responsible for the extermination of over 6 million Jews? Absolutely nothing except for the fact that people feel the need to give perspective to actions that have no relevance to the actions.

I touched on Jesus Christ and Adolf Hitler. Now let's get to abortion. I can not fathom a better public service announcement for pro-life supporters than Gloria James sitting in front of a group of teenage girls and rattling off the New York State Lotto motto, "Hey, you never know."

Even with the help of Dr. Ken Moadel, you still don't see how much you mean to me. You can talk all you want about your new 20/15 vision, but I don't envision us being together in 2015 if you don't make a commitment right now. I only have eyes for you, baby, despite all your fatal flaws and all your shortcomings. And since you don’t have to wake up so early each morning for your 5 A.M. show anymore, there are no more excuses why we can’t enjoy the nightlife in the city. No more matinées and no more early bird specials. But if you don’t foresee a future with me, I better warn you, Dr. Ken Moadel might be bladeless, but I will slice you up like Wolverine.

And for those of you that only know me as Lundberg’s Lady Friend, my real name is April.

One and done. I am not talking about freshmen leaving after one year. I am not talking about teams losing their first game in the tournament and going home. I am talking about Robin Lundberg giving a compliment to college basketball and then going right back to bitchslapping it. The structure of your arguments against college basketball are poorly constructed, lack a dominant premise, and because of your dearth of overall knowledge of teams in the tournament you find it much easier to criticize than to enjoy watching. Even though games are won and lost more times on mistakes than on buzzer beaters and close doesn’t always mean good, TNT knows drama. Robin Lundberg knows flaws and he will always gladly point them out to you even when you never asked him in the first place.

Your arguments against college basketball are flawed in themselves. Your constant comparison of professional basketball versus college basketball needs to be analyzed. You sound like an 80-year old man saying, “In my day, professional baseball players had to fight in two wars, WWII and Korea, work two jobs, and in their spare time, work on a cure for polio.” To which the general response is, “Grandpa, we were talking about little Jeffrey’s tee ball league, why do you always feel the need to make the comparison?” You have repeatedly defended your position about the superiority of talent of the NBA. Good for you. Yes, amateur athletes are inferior to professional athletes. But just like in amateur porn, amateur basketball players make mistakes, penetrate the wrong hole, cough up the ball prematurely, and there is usually some crying in the end, but it is just as enjoyable to watch as professional basketball players and professional porn stars going through the motions to give the viewers a predictable but satisfying ending with the Lakers jizzing on the competition.

Your use of Jared Jeffries and Mike Conley as examples for the lack of talent in college basketball since they were the top players on losing teams in National Championship games is poor. I think to better demonstrate the lack of talent in college basketball, the 2002 National Champion Maryland Terrapins would be a much better example. This team was led by Lonny Baxter. No, not Lonnie Baxter, Attorney at Law who you see on commercials claiming that he will fight for you. Also, other talentless players from that team were Juan Dixon, Steve Blake, and Chris Wilcox, who just recently scheduled a game against the New York Knicks.

Robin Lundberg’s inability to control himself from taking repeated shots at college basketball can be traced to his inferiority complex from growing up in Maryland. Due to Maryland’s lack of a professional basketball team and the University of Maryland’s lack of success in the ACC when compared to Duke and North Carolina, Lundberg’s lack of attachment to a specific team in multiple sports explains his flexible and everchanging rooting interests in teams. How many individuals do you know have rooted for the Redskins, Giants, Eagles, Cavs, Heat, and Knicks? I know one. Robin Lundberg.

1050 ESPN Radio is vastly inferior to WFAN in ratings, talent, and reception, but I still enjoy listening to both, especially when I am in the two block broadcast radius of 1050 ESPN Radio studios, but a comparison does not have to be made each and every time the inferior station's name is brought up. That would be like when the Mets' money problems are brought up that it has to be pointed out that 1050 ESPN Radio is going on the cheap by having their own hosts do the job of the Sportcenter update anchors that they fired back in October.

Jon Rothstein's favorite sentence in the world is, "You know who he reminds me of?" When you respond, "no," Rothstein believes that you are generally interested in his comparison, but what you really wanted to say was, "Please, no!!! And if you say Eddie House, I am going to burn this building to the ground! Enough with the comparisons for Christ's sake!" My feelings exactly.

Lack of interest or lack of knowledge in a topic leads to generalities which leads to comparisons to topics you wish you were talking about in the first place. So during next March Madness, just stick to NBA talk.

I apologize if you thought I went on and on and would never end but I was just preparing you for the NBA playoffs from April 16 to when hell freezes over.

They broke into our Dublin home,
The dirty English dogs,
They took away my sister,
And they beat my dad with logs.

Everybody!

Limey scum, Limey scum!
I toss a bomb and still they come...

Along the ring of Kerry you can hear the bleat of gulls,
I’ll sip the blood of the English from their bleached and hollowed skulls.

Everybody!!

All this talk about the NFL Draft has really pumped me up for my fantasy football league. I know it is really early but I believe there are two underrated players that I plan on targeting in the first two rounds, Scabby McGee and Ed "Too Slow" Jones.

Interestingly, a guy who you (and Max) used to tout as "clutch" was Jamal Crawford. And he shows up as an absolute "abortion" when you survey the "game winning" numbers. But he also has excellent numbers on mid-range jump shots. In fact, better than Carmelos. I guess he just doesn't have the "mettle."

Your man crush on lebron is really beast.... I feel like they are just too big of stars to be on the same team. It just doesn't make sense. They are so good individually. They dont need to be on the same team. They should both have their own squads. Lebron should have went somewhere else. If they were on their own teams you wouldn't have to question who gets the rock during crunch time. That doesnt mean you cant have 2 stars on your team but Lebron and Wade are SUPERstars, on another level then ppl like Amare, Bosh, etc., as good as Amare is. As much as i like Carmello i really think Lebron and Amare would have been total domination. Im starting to think that TMobile commercial with Wade demanding a trade could be reality. Except it might be Lebron checking out if they dont fix the problems.

Cry me a river, Lundberg. The Miami Heat, aka the Baby Bawlers, are wetting the bed. How on Earth do you write an article where you note that LeBron and Wade choke in crunch time and then only cite Kobe Bryant's statistics and air balls in crunch time? For crying out loud, your article about the Miami Heat follows the same pattern as the Heat. You start off well, then you lose focus and start babbling about Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard. You wrap up your Miami Heat talk with, "So while the Heat certainly have some issues, ..." Wow, way to close out that article. No, wait. AIR BALL! AIR BALL!

This could have been a good article. It is a crying shame it's not.

I don't know who wrote this article but it certainly wasn't Lundberg, as he is not capable of making an intelligent argument. Plus I am in complete accord with everything written particularly the Dwight Howard being the frontrunner for MVP part. And since I've never agreed with Lundberg about anything in my life I know he did not write this.

i agree, and those judges need to stop hatin. ibaka gettin 2 45s was insane. the slam dunk contest was great, i just wish they had an edited version of it on tv that gets rid of the dunk misses so that they wouldn't give away what they're gonna do.
i actually like the fact that there aren't too many stars in the contest, blake won off of name and rep alone, but most of the heads out there'll tell you that mcgee or derozan should've won.
can mcgee's mom dunk, she's a skyscraper homie.

It's a good thing I don't come to this site for its well reasoned analysis because this post sets a new low. So because of one great defensive performance, defense is no longer a worry for the Knicks. I guess that is why you conveniently neglected to mention that the Bucks scored 108 points and the Cavs 115 points in consecutive games against the new look Knicks. Care to guess which two teams are ranked 29th and 30th in offensive efficiency this season? Those same Cavs and Bucks. So clearly we can erase defense as a possible achilles heel for the Knicks.

ehh idk even with the inability to execute in the half-court the heat still could and perhaps should have won that game. As much as i like Labron James as a basketball player he needs to stop trying to hit the game winning 3 and consistently attack the basketball in the final seconds, or swallow his pride and pass the ball off to Dwade or someone else. The Heat need to learn how to close out games
